July 18, 2022 — The Energy Transition Institute welcomes their newest staff member, Angie Gregory. Angie received an MS in Sustainability Science at UMass Amherst with a focus in urban sustainability. She holds certificates in Climate Change Hazards and Green Infrastructure Planning, Permaculture Design, LEED Green Associate, and the Carbon Literacy Standard. Her research activities relate to facilitating applied scholarship and project based learning connecting students to sustainability projects which support the community in accelerating their objectives. One of her self-directed research projects was around helmet accessibility for public bike share systems, and promoting liveable streets.
Angie is also an artist and an entrepreneur. She established the first compostable diaper service in the state of Massachusetts and led the facilitation for UMass Amherst to become the first US institution to deliver the Carbon Literacy Project internally. Her recent artistic endeavors included researching the structural properties of mycelium grown from organic waste capture to display the various alternative applications for its use in buildings, agriculture, and materials. Other artistic endeavors include kite aerial photography and public art interventions. Angie has also been a sustainability consultant for municipalities for their public communications and a volunteer on reuse and bike and pedestrian committees for Northampton.
