UMass Awarded Grant to Run U.S. DOE Northeast Combined Heat and Power Technical Assistance Partnership

The U.S. Department of Energy has established the Northeast Combined Heat and Power Technical Assistance Partnership at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Pace University. The Center is a partnership between DOE, UMass, Pace, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources. Its mission is to support use of combined heat and power (CHP), also known as cogeneration, by providing technical education and assistance in the seven northeast states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
UMass Lowell Led Team Receives $80,000 EPA Pollution Prevention Grant

CEERE Receives $1.3 Million from DOE for Industrial Assessment Center

The campus will receive $1.3 million from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) over five years to help university teams gain practical training on core energy management concepts through DOE's Industrial Assessment Center Program. The Industrial Assessment Center on campus provides energy, waste, and productivity assessments to small and mid-sized manufacturers at no cost by experienced engineering faculty and students. In 2007, the DOE chose the UMass Amherst Industrial Assessment Center from among 26 similar IACs nationwide as its 2007 Center of Excellence, measured by energy and dollars saved and also the effort put forth by IAC Director Dragoljub “Beka” Kosanovic to promote ITP initiatives.
CEERE Awarded $2 Million for Role in New Clean Energy Extension

CEERE director Dr. Beka Kosanovic is one of the co-principal investigators for the new Clean Energy Extension, funded by a $6 million grant from the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources. The program will provide information on clean energy technologies and resources to help put them into practice.
